Phone Service Disruption
As you are very aware, there has been an ongoing issue with BARC’s phone service platform that began on Saturday, September 25, 2021. The phone service disruption is part of a larger issue impacting major US carrier and retail communications providers, including Verizon, CenturyLink and Microsoft. Over the weekend an ongoing distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) was orchestrated against Bandwidth’s network, which is the underlying provider for BARC’s phone service platform provider. Our provider has let us know that this attack is unlike anything seen in the past and has resulted in ongoing intermittent issues when trying to make or receive calls, including calls to 911.
This ongoing attack continues to impact inbound calls, outbound calls, 911 calls and text messaging. At this time, there is not a current estimate time for resolution, but we have been assured by our provider that Bandwidth is aggressively working to counteract this attack. We appreciate all phone service consumer’s understanding and patience. We will provide updates as they are available.
